Oftel (the Office of Telecommunications) is the UK regulator for
the telecommunications industry and its objective is to promote
competition, consumer choice and value for money for all
telecommunication services, including the fixed and mobile
telephone markets, narrowband and broadband internet markets and
digital broadcasting technology. This annual report describes its
work during 2002, and it is likely to be the last full annual
report before Oftel becomes part of the new Office of
Communications (Ofcom).
