The fine old ship was found in excellent condition, all the docks sweet and clean, and the rigging looking smart, though it is probable that some of the spars and masts may be post duty. Tue arrangements on board are excellent, with one exception, viz., the hick of suitable desks on ihe school-deck. The steam launch has provided a great boon duringan exceptionally rough winter, which sorely tried the ship's boats. Drawing is taught on the. school-deck, and i- good considering difficulties. The arrangements for: nautical instruction continue as before. The boys gain practical experience in keeping the shin and rigging in good order, while the seniors have the additional advantage of cruising in the " Selene" during the summer. Last year 112 boys (56 at a time) had two months of this experience. The boots and clothes tontinue to be made (and well-made) on board. The brass and reed and bagpipe bands are excellent, and must be the result of real.earnest work. The steam launch has provided an additional opportunity for giving boys useful experience. As regards disposal to sea and the services, the figures are still remarkably good. With spacious decks, and a commodious hold, the ship is almost as well off as a shore school. The drills and exercises are good, and well thought out. Swimming is made a special feature of, and regarded, as it should be, of the first importance.
