In Greek historiography there has been little research to date on the correlations between notions of history and forms of political organization. An important element of social identity can be found at this crossroads, however, an insight that facilitates proper assessment of the importance of Greek historical writing, thus casting an entirely new light on a key phenomenon of ancient culture.
