Hayek on Hayek - An Autobiographical Dialogue (Hardcover)

In the last two decades Hayek's reputation has undergone a remarkable revival, and he is regarded as one of the greatest economists, political philosophers and social theorists of the century. However not only did he not write an autobiography, his appointed biographer, W.W. Bartley, died before that work was complete. Drawing on Hayek's extensive autobiographical notes and the many lengthy interviews he gave towards the end of this career, "Hayek on Hayek" traces his life's work in his own words. The result is an accessible introduction to Hayek. "Hayek on Hayek" follows its subject from his early years in the Vienna circle, to the United States, where he completed his seminal research on business cycles, and, at Lionel Robbins' invitation to the LSE. It was here that Hayek was to take part in the two debates, first with Keynes, then with the socialists, that were to shape his future career and the reception to his work. At the time, he appeared to have had the worst of both debates, and his reputation was to suffer something of an eclipse. More than 50 years later it was apparent that there was a need for a re-assessment.
