Group Analytic Music Therapy (Paperback)

This book details how images created during an analytically oriented music therapy group can be used for therapeutic benefit. The book is divided into three parts: 1) philosophical foundations of GAMT; 2) the theory and method of GAMT, including a detailed discussion of "musical images;" 3) an extended case study of Mary, an invisible woman who turned visible and found her voice during GAMT. Apart from being a first of its kind in the music therapy field, this book expands group music therapy theories and proposes a new way of defining clinical group music therapy practice.
