Excerpt: ... I am a Man of War's Man proud and bold, On board of the oak I've often rolled, Over the ocean I am never afraid, For I love the sea, and made it my trade; To protect the weak from the oppressor's might, Is the bounden duty of an Englishman's right, And should our foes dispute our power, We soon put them right with a leaden shower, From the guns of the good ship British Oak, When we are afloat, when we are afloat. Then let me roam o'er the rolling wave, In the gallant old Oak so dear and brave, For the only home is the sea for me, On board of the ships, of Her Majesty; That nobly sails o'er ocean and bay, In glorious form so gallant and gay, When on the mighty deep our Flag is unfurled, We demand respect all over the world, By the guns of the good ship British Oak. When we are afloat, when we are afloat. HODGE THE SOLDIER. His heart rose high, Finding red coats nigh; From the edge did spy, Joy beaming in his eye....
