Excerpt: Green Bay Southwest High School - Nearly half of Southwest's class of 2007 attended a four-year college (49%) while over a quarter go on to two-year programs (26%). The school offered 14 Advanced Placement courses in 2007, with 220 AP tests taken in May 2007. Southwest has been asked by its district to spend the 2009-10 school year investigating the possibility of introducing an International Baccalaureate (IB) program at the school, a program that may first be introduced at Green Bay West High School. There are a wide array of sports housed at Green Bay Southwest High School. As of the 2006-7 school year, there were 1,427 students in attendance, including 379 seniors, 384 juniors, 337 sophomores, and 327 freshmen. The ethnic makeup of the school was 80.52% Caucasian, 7.92% American Indian, 4.98% Southeast Asian, 3.99% Black, and 2.59% Hispanic. In 2010 Green Bay Southwest established, and honored, its inaugural Distinguished Alumni. The Distinguished Alumni program seeks to identify those alumni who have achieved success and fostered a positive impact on their community. Candidates are chosen through a nomination process by fellow alumni, students, and those affiliated with Green Bay Southwest High School. 2010 Southwest High School was the site of a visit by U.S. president Barack Obama on June 11, 2009, who lead a town hall meeting about health care reform.
