Lord Peter Wimsey: Collection (DVD)

, , , , , , , , , , , , ,
A collection of five adventures with the aristocratic amateur sleuth. In 'The Nine Tailors' Lord Peter Wimsey (Ian Carmichael) investigates the theft of a valuable necklace which took place many years earlier. In 'Five Red Herrings', holidaying in Scotland, Lord Peter discovers the body of a local artist at the bottom of a cliff, but was the fall an accident or the result of foul play? In 'Clouds of Witness' Wimsey is shocked when his sister's fiance, Captain Cathcart, is murdered, and decides to unmask the killer himself when his own brother is accused of the crime. A letter from Egypt provides a clue, but why is the dead man's fiancee already packed and prepared to depart? In 'The Unpleasantness at the Bellona Club' the death of the aged General Fentiman at the Bellona Club seems at first glance to be a simple case of old age. However, when Wimsey investigates further, he discovers that the General had a long list of beneficiaries who look set to get their hands on a substantial inheritance. Finally, in 'Murder Must Advertise', following the suspicious death of a young copywriter at Pym's Publicity Ltd, Wimsey adopts the pseudonym of Death Bredon and goes undercover as an adman to investigate. The dead man had warned the company owner that criminal activity was afoot within the office walls, and it is not long before Wimsey is winkling out the nefarious wrong-doers using his own, inimitable methods.
