Innocents Beware - Human Nature Deranged (Paperback)

The idyllic lives of a young couple are shattered, when the girl is kidnapped and brutally assaulted and hidden away in the northern part of New Mexico. The young man, who has inherited special mental gifts from his Mother, makes an uneasy pact with the FBI, a quid pro quo, where he will help them solve certain types of serial crimes in return for their help in search of his missing love. The decade long search for her is thwarted many times by space, time, lack of evidence and the slow cooperation of the Agency. He cultivates a few people within the Agency who are willing to help him in return for his aid solving difficult and cold cases. The young lady becomes almost catotonic during her months of captivity and later years in a special facility for lost souls. The young man's tenacity and the eventual leads and evidence, provided by the Agency, lead to the discovery of her whereabouts. When he finds her in the almost catatonic state of being and with no apparent rememberance of her past, except for one poignant initial moment, he is taxed to his depth in trying to bring her back to normalcy, to the one true being that makes him whole. The FBI involves him in a long ongoing and unusual case of a serial killer of young girls and he finds himself torn between his quest to revive the sanity of his newly found partner while trying to solve the long time criminal activities of an active serial kidnapper. The maturation of the young man as he grapples with the tight wire journey of the young lady's recovery and the complicated efforts involved in trying to apprehend an active criminal makes for a very emotional, thoughtful and entertaining read.
