It is that virtue marked out through all the ages, when man places his confidence and his hopes in the keeping of his brother, knowing full well he is safe from adversity without and estrangement within. It is fidelity to every hope and aspiration, the love of truth and fellowman, that becomes the acme of our life. Fidelity is the one flower that makes charity sweeter, that surrounds every thought by a noble purpose, that has strewn on life's pathway the sparkling gems of gentleness and simplicity, alleviates every sorrow with the crown of well doing and weaves into one garland of immaculate whiteness the final trend of human events. Fidelity to purpose as well as cause, is as necessary for nations as men. That nation lives to-day that first annonuced liberty and equality of all men before law, and that nation will live to-morrow that places fidelity to principle as the eternal rock upon which its perpetuity is based. What worthier object can you and I espouse to-day than fidelity, fidelity to home, to land, to equality and to humanity.
