Not illustrated. 1801 Excerpt: ...pursuance of thiaact, orin relation to the premises, or any of them, such action or suit shall be brought within six months after the fact shall be alleged to have been done, and the defendant or defendants in such action, may plead the general issue, and give this act and the special matter in evidence at any trial to be had thereupon, and that the same was done in pursuance and by the authority of this act, and if the same shall appear to have been so done, or if such action or suit shall not be brought within the time herein before limited, then the jury shall find for the defendant or defendants; and if the plaintiff or plaintiffs in such action or suit shall be nonsuited, or suffer a discontinuance thereof, or if a verdict shall pass against such plaintiff or plaintiffs, or if upon demurrer judgment shall be given against the plaintiff or plaintiffs, the defendant or defendants' shall have double costs. XXXIII. And be it enacted ' by the authority aforesaid, That it shall and may be lawful to and for the said corporation to pay and reimburse themselves by and out of the first of the rates, duties and revenues which they shall receive by virtue of this act, all such costs and expences as they shall be put to in the obtaining of this act. XXXIV. And be it further enacted by the authority aforesaid, That this act shall be a public act, and shall be deemed and taken notice of as such by all judges, justices, and others in all courts and places without pjeading the same.
