Critical Diversion is a collection of ten short stories involving hospitals, highways, cafA(c)'s, and the characters who inhabit them, in post-20th century America. Something is happening here that is at once funny, happy, sad, and terrifying. In the title story, the murder of a nurse involves a detective and a police photographer who are challenged to determine who committed the crime, and why. The other stories contain a broad range of topics ranging from; a homeless hospitalized woman that reveals a terrible secret, a Vietnam veteran who is faced with a challenge and a mysterious visitor who changes his life, a surgeon who is involved in a bloody affair to stay alive, a dementia patient with a strange request, to; a private detective on the trail of a killer who stalks drug dealers, just to name a few.
