The residue is left to Elizabeth his wife, dame Anne his mother, Robert, Henry, Gerard, and Henry Sothill his brothers. John Harrington and William Babthorpe esqrs., his executors. Pr. Oct. 7, 1494. (Reg. Vox at Doctors' Commons.) The will of the widow of John Sothill, Elizabeth Plumpton, runs as follows: " Dame Elisabeth Sothill. To be buried at the Gray Freres at London in the same place that my sone Henry Sotehill is buryed; and my hert to be take out of my body, and buryed at Stockfaston by my housbande. My bror in lawe, Robert Sothill, to pay to the mariage of my doughter Elizabeth, as he hath promysed by hys feith and truthe of the dett that he owith me a cli. Johan, Robert, Thomas, and Arthur, my sonnes, to have, according to their father's will, x marc a pece in the manor of Clifton, co. York; and v marc to my son Gerard. My son Gerard to have the manor of Askley. My landes at Hakenbye and Stanethwaith, co. Lincoln, and Uppyngham, co. Rutland, to be solde, toward the contentacion of my bro1' Helselryge for th'arerage of covenauntes of the mariage of my dou. Anne. I desire my dou. Johan Sothill, for all love and kyndenes that have beene betwix hur and me, to take the disposition of my dou. Anne's joyntre. My son, John Sothill, to have 10Z. per annum out of Gressyngton and Spoton; and Gerard v marc a yere there. My son Heselrige and my dou. his wyfe to have my stuff at Stokfaston.
