Towering 14,179 feet above sea level in far northern California, Mount Shasta is a landmark comparable to Japan's Mount Fuji. This majestic peak is the second highest volcano in the Cascade Range and part of the Pacific Ocean's "Ring of Fire." And while global warming is shrinking most of the world's glaciers, Mount Shasta provides a rare exception; it's seven glaciers continue to grow.
