Cub reporter Abbie Hodge is persuaded by an octogenarian friend to visit a tiny crossroads town in northern Canada. The old man hopes Abbie can find out what's become of Kid Granite, his colorful boxing partner from the 30's, last heard from when headed to the remote Indian village of Oba. The reporter is successful in unearthing what his friend has sent him to discover-and much more. In the misguided assumption that its existence will prevent a terrorist biological attack on North America, the United States government has persuaded Canada to permit the construction of a virtually undetectable storage facility on its soil-one that houses enough distilled Ebola toxin to kill every human on Earth. The underground depository is dubbed "The Oba Project"-and Abbie Hodge stumbles on it.
