Toward Positive Religion is a book of philosophy. It is not a religious book per se; it should be read as a handful of directions for finding the positive in any religion. There are some statements that the individual cannot say in religion, and some that he or she must say. The fundamental thesis of Toward Positive Religions is that the various aspects of known religions are positive. For instance, we may see that God is positive in the absolute sense, or that our Buddha nature is the positive because suffering can be alleviated. The book is written broadly about all of the religions. It is also written so that the various aspects, doctrines, systems, and beliefs can be seen as positive. The information gives the reader enough direction to understand his or her religion completely in a new light. There is also a sense of critique in Towards Positive Religions. This does not come through in the form of attacking beliefs. Rather, Towards Positive Religions points out the limiting perspective of the world's religions. The idea is that with many new developments in these religions, the right attitude is to focus on the positive rather than any particular philosophy.
