I had now more evidence of the Lord's goodness, faithftihefsznd rracc, --had a sense of his presence more or less in every place--saw his providence protecting me from trouble, harm and loss--Sound his blessing alone gave me peace in my little affairs--that I never trusted in the Lord in vain, but he always helped me and supported me, at least, as far as I trusted m him. "-Did any ever trust in the Lord, and andwere confounded?" No; but "mercy embraced them on every side." They Jbail never be ashamed(faith the Lord) that-wait for me. This I have always found true; but, for many years past when I have even for small things trusted to others or my ov.n sufficiency. I have found myself disappointed and all my hopes in vain; but when I have been enabled to look above all creature dependance, trusting and relying on God alone, then and then only I have been blessed with success and peace.--Though I have not much, yet the blessing of God makes it sufficient tor all my real wants. I always use the means which religion and reason point out, but look to God to bless the means; for, "Unless the Lord build the house, their labour is but lost that build it." This I have seen in myself and many others, who with great diligence using the most probable means to advance themselves in the world, have not succeeded for want of the divine blejfng. "Beheld is it not of the Lord of Hosts that the people fall labour in the very fire, -and jkall-weary themselves for vety vanity?" Hab. ii. 3. I have been made to see with wonder and-amazement...
