A piece of lisse is dipped into the wax and drawn out slowly, thus giving the fabric a coating of wax. The wax should be coloured, so that when the cloth is coated it will be of a colour to match the backs of the leaves to be imitated. The backs are generally several shades lighter than the faces of leaves. A strip of foe is now taken, rolled up into the form of a cylinder and placed into the hot wax, keeping hold of the end of the fabric with the thumb and finger. The cloth is now slowly drawn out of the wax, receiving a deposit or coat on both sides. The cloth is moved backward and forward to facilitate cooling, when the sheet is hung over a tight cord or wire, while a second piece is being coated.* l io. 4o.--A Piece of Cloth Partly Coated With Wax. * Mrs. Mogridge has never, to my knowledge, allowed one of her pupils to see this process, nor would she ever explain how the cloth was coated. The above is therefore the outcome of my own experiment, and works equally well with cloth supplied by her. Mrs. Mogridge is always willing to supply pupils or others with not only waxed cloth, but sheet wax of a quality greatly superior to any manufactured in this country. Enough of
