Global Balance - Peace and Human Development

After several years of intensive research, this work was first published as World Balance and Human Development. In 2007, the research was updated and expanded into Global Balance-Peace and Human Development. Both books were warnings that America was on the wrong path for retaining its relative position of strength and influence within the community of nations. These findings were based on 31 years of data for more than 20 variables from 93 countries of the world, plus the writings of more than 100 scholars over the past 2400 years. Thus, this is an excellent guide for those interested in cross-national analysis or those seeking greater understanding of how the world has worked through the interactions of societies, governments, and businesses/economics since before Aristotle. History and the research strongly indicate that fairness in the competition for resources creates and sustains a middle class, which is the key to peace, progress, and democracy. The work also addresses specific problems of America and offers specific solutions. Yet, without a change of course, the research was predictive of the current economic crisis and instability created by the growing gap between the rich and poor in America and within and between other countries. The 2009 update is a chronology of articles written mainly during the critical election year of 2008. The articles are generally in reaction to events or the articles of others. It does appear that the country is now changing course and we must be hopeful that we return to government of the people, by the people, and for the people. However, we must be realistic about the challenges ahead.
