You know how musicians suddenly become rock stars? And inevitably, one of your cooler friends already knew about them way back when? Poetry used to be like that. Poetry wants to be like that again. But most publishers wonat even look at poetry. So Iad like to thank my publisher now; you guys are cool. I tried every publisher that got their start publishing beatniks, and you know what their submission guides said? No poetry. The only poetry they promote is by rock stars. It doesnat surprise me that rock stars want to be poets, because Iam a poet who wants to be a rock star. I want to kick in the doors and scream, aPoetry isnat dead!
