Poetry has always been an essential part of Kottavei's life. As a professional artist, this art form could not be passed by. She was enticed by both the complexity and simplicity of words. Writing became a place of solace and release. The traditional Japanese form of poetry, haiku, appealed to her senses because of it's abbreviated format of using 5-7-5 syllables to create a poem.
