The Kiel-Flensburg railway is a single-track railway in Schleswig-Holstein. The railway connects the city of Kiel on the Baltic Sea with Eckernf rde and Flensburg. As trains reach a speed of 120 km/h on the line - rather fast for a local railway - the stretch is nicknamed schnellste Nebenbahn Deutschlands. Travel time over the 80 km railway is around 75 minutes. The railway crosses three peninsulas: from Kiel, it crosses the Kiel Canal and then traverses the D nischer Wohld to Eckernf rde. From that town to the Schlei it crosses Schwansen. North of the Schlei, the line runs through the typical landscape of Angeln, the location of the station of S derbrarup.
