The Fez (Paperback)

Dave was having a bad day: he had opened his eyes that morning and he was still alive. But things started to look up and/or down and perhaps several times leeward when he discovered he was no longer on the same planet as when he had gone to bed. Well, collapsed naked on the street. The god of the planet Glix wasn't having a terribly good millennium, either. Owing to a severe miscalculation on His behalf, the prophets' declaration of a 'Great Flood' had in fact been a leaking drainpipe, and the people of Glix had started eating each other. All through the streets of an alternate Britain, a large, red box creeps. The obsession of many, the item of fear and the sole relic of numerous quests, the Fez holds gift for whoever presses its right button. The problem is that nobody knows which of the thousands of buttons adorning all four walls of the Fez is the correct one; nobody knows what the mystery rise is; and nobody knows if the opening of the Fez will herald forth agreat reward or a great punishment... Dave hears of the Fez and realises it is his only way to return home, or at least to escape Glix. The question that readily presents itself, though, is whether he would sooner return home, stay on Glix, or be wiped out of existence altogether. An inquisitive but paranoid man, Dave teams up with a mentally unwell 14-year-old, two intelligent (though foolish) telepathic twins and a Chicken prophet to the Duck god Quack.
