Seit der Fertigstellung des an der stlichen Seite Kaunas errichteten neuen Verkehrslandeplatzes (litauisch Oro Uostas Karm lava) in der N he des Ortes Karm lava wird Aleksotas nur noch als Sportflugplatz genutzt. Der Flugplatz selber ist in einem sehr guten Zustand, ausger stet mit einer Asphaltbahn (ohne Anti-Skid), einem parallelen Rollweg mit mehreren Zufahrten. Er verf gt allerdings nicht ber eine Landebahnbefeuerung, eine Anflugkontrolle oder sonstige Anflughilfen.
