At the time of the 1991 Nepal census it had a population of 3,949 and had 723 houses in the town. Banke District, a part of Bheri zone, is one of the seventy-five districts of Nepal, a landlocked country of South Asia. The district, located in the Mid-Western Region with Nepalgunj as its district headquarters, covers an area of 2,337 km and has a population (2001) of 385,840.
