Wurtele, Canada's women's skiing pioneers and champions of the
1940s and 50s. Canada's first women's Olympic alpine ski team,
competed at 1948 Winter Olympics at St. Moritz, Switzerland.
Previous to that they had competed in Canada and the U.S. since
1942 and continued to compete until 1959 after they were married
and had children. They were true pioneers for women in sports and
for Canadian downhill skiing. Their biography, No Limits, by Byron
Rempel, is an inspiring book, showing their fierce competitive
spirit, their sense of fairplay and their handling of both victory
