Malone hails from Donaghmede, Dublin, Ireland, and previously played bass for Hothouse Flowers, Hinterland, and Dave Herbert of Les Enfants to name but a few. However, he is probably best known for his bass playing for Dublin prog rockers LiR who were touted as the next big thing in Ireland in the early 90s. Before embarking on a career with Lir, Malone played acoustic guitar for the church youth choir in Donaghmede. Malone has co-written a number of songs on recent David Gray albums.
