The Soutzos or Soutsos (Romanian: Su u or Sutzu) is a Greek Phanariote family which grew into prominence and power in Constantinople (present-day Istanbul) during the last centuries of Ottoman Empire and gave several short-reign hospodars to the Danubian Principalities, like Mihai Su u, and his nephew Michael Soutzos (Mihail Su u). The main branch of the above family is found now in Greece. Phanariots, Phanariotes, or Phanariote Greeks were members of those prominent Greek (including Hellenized Romanian and Albanian) families residing in Phanar (, modern Fener), the chief Greek quarter of Constantinople, where the Ecumenical Patriarchate is situated.
