Tokyo Sonata is about a middle class family in Tokyo, the Sasakis, which consists of Ry hei Sasaki (Teruyuki Kagawa), his wife Megumi (Ky ko Koizumi), and their two sons Takashi (Y Koyanagi) and Kenji (Inowaki Kai). Ry hei has a good office job, but is suddenly fired because Chinese workers are cheaper. While attempting to find a new job, Ry hei encounters an old classmate on the street, Kurosu (Kanji Tsuda), who has also recently been downsized.
