In historical records the village was first mentioned in 1554. The village lies at an altitude of 650 metres and covers an area of 14.098 km . It has a population of about 225 people. The village is about 99% Slovak and 1% Magyar. The village has a public library. Levice District (okres Levice) is a district in the Nitra Region of western Slovakia. It is the largest of Slovakia's 79 districts. The west of the district was in the Hungarian county of Tekov until 1918, while the east of the district was in Hont County: Farna in the south was in the county of Esztergom (Ostrihom).
