Incumbent Democrat U.S. Senator Evan Bayh decided in February 2010 to retire. Democratic officials chose U.S. Congressman Brad Ellsworth to face Republican nominee and former U.S. Senator Dan Coats. Dan Coats defeated Ellsworth at 7:00pm EST, and won by a landslide.
