Xihua University is now a leading university in Sichuan province, People's Republic of China, in the areas of engineering, science, and business administration. Approved by the State Ministry of Education, Xihua University (XHU), a key provincial comprehensive university, formed by the merger of the former Sichuan University of Science and Technology and the former Teacher's College, was founded on April 16, 2003. In order to modernize agriculture and machinery, the former Sichuan University of Science and Technology, once called the Sichuan Mechanical College of Agriculture, was founded in 1960. Since 1979, it has been a key polytechnic university of Sichuan Province.
