The Committee take great pleasure in the discharge of this duty. They feel assured that they correctly represent the sense of the Society, in stating that your lectures were especially called for by the exigencies of the times, and were replete with valuable information, which they think ought to be presented in a permanent and accessible form. The Committee respectfully request that you consent to the publication of these Lectures, and that you will for that purpose favor them with the.manuscript at your earliest convenience.
