Author of Latin Verses published in Pietas Or on. in Obitum Anna Regince, 1714. On a flat stone within the Altar rails of St. Thomas's Church, Oxford, was this inscription, Samml Hayward, M.A. Chaplain of Christ Church, and Minister of this parish, Jan. 5, 1731-2. A.D. 1731-2. Friday, 7 Jan. "On Wednesday last, being the 5th instant, died the Rev. Mr. Samuel Hayward, M.A. and Chaplain of Christ Church, Oxford. He had been originally of Magdalen College. A week or more before his death he came home much disordered with liquor, and fell down from the terrace in the great quadrangle at Christ Church, and broke two of his ribs, which threw him into a raving condition. He was buried to day at Christ Church." Hearnes Diary. 1711 Jesson, Thomas, res. 1716. Matr. at Queen's College, 17 March, 171011, ait. 18. Son of William Jesson, of Coventry, co. Warwick, pleb. "Last night about five of the clock died Mr. Thomas Jesson, M.A. and Chaplain of Christ Church. He was born at Coventry, and was originally of Magdalen College.
