On the afternoon of Tuesday, the 24th of June, a most successful Conference and Garden Party was held at Normansfield, Hampton Wick, at the kind invitation of Dr. and Mrs. Langdon-Down and Dr. and Mrs. Percival Langdon-Down. Of this function a local paper gave the following account: ? On Tuesday afternoon, by the kindnessof Dr. and Mrs. Langdon-Down, a Conference of Members of the British Child-Study Association was held at Normansfield. The Association was formed in Edinburgh, in 1894, as the result of a visit of several ladies connected with elementary education to a Congress held in America in the previous year. It has seven branches, in different parts of England, with a total membership of 800. The Conference was held in the handsome and commodious Theatre, which was filled with ladies and gentlemen, many of whom were educationalists from all parts of the world who are on a visit to this country in connection with the Coronation celebrations. Sir James Crichton-Browne presided, and, before commencing the proceedings, said that in every assemblage of Englishmen expression must be given to the dominant feeling in every breast?one of profound sympathy with the beloved and honoured King in the illness that had befallen him at the very moment when representatives were gathered together in his capital from all his globe-girdlin...
