The doctor arrived in due time and made several efforts to change and deliver, but finally gave it up. Altogether it was a formidable undertaking, but the time had arrived when something most be done. The child was dead.at least from any means we had by which we could detect life. I finally thought of a hook fastened in the mouth or against a maxillary, and concluded to try my index finger, which was successful in making a move in the whole affair and soon the child was delivered. Just as I had changed the head my finger slipped and tore up a Urge piece of muscle in the mouth. To our surprise the fellow hallooed manfully. We were glad to welcome him but very sorry that we had to resort to such rough means for delivery. Dr. K. thought we should try to remedy the defect by fastening the torn surface back, but I thought nature would in all probability matte a good job of it and so we left it to nature, which has healed the wound and the fellow is now all right. EMMENAGOGUE. R Fl. ext. ergot, Fl. ext. gossypii, Fl. ext. black cohosh, aa 3 j-M. Sig.--Half a teaspoonful every three hours, and using hot formentations of hops on the bowels.--Peoria Medical Monthly. TREATMENT OF OPIUM INEBRIETY. The therapeutics of these eases including bromide of sodium, hot baths...
