This was one of the best purchases we ever made. It saves a lot om electricity. Just make sure you have no heavy objects hanging abouve it as these can fall and damage the glass top. The on/off button switches the plate to the highest setting automatically. I haven't used anything more than the 3 lowest heat settings for cooking. It also has a timer function which is great for bringing milk or water to the boil. The pots are great and easily cleaned with a soft cloth. The cooker and pots should be cleaned with care and no heavy scrubbing as this can damage the surfaces and is not needed in the first place.
