Excerpt: ... THIRD WEEK. The Lesson for the Day. Then, all standing--GLORY to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good-will toward men. O Lord, how manifold are Thy works, in wisdom hast Thou made them all; the earth is full of Thy riches. It is a good thing to give thanks unto the Lord, and to sing praises unto Thy name, O most Highest. To tell of Thy loving-kindness early in the morning, and of Thy truth in the night season. 1 sought the Lord, and He heard me, yea, He delivered me out of all my fear. The angel of the Lord tarrieth round about them that fear Him, and delivereth them. When it can be so arranged, the following Hymn may be sung to the Tune of S. Peter, No. 10 of Hymns Ancient and Modem. BLEST be the day, all gracious Lord, Which Thou to man hast given, To sing Thy praise and hear Thy word, And fix his heart on heaven. Teach us on earth, however tried, To love and serve Thee still; To make Thy law our only guide, Thy will our only will. Teach us to keep our conscience pure, Our heart without a stain, Our hope unclouded, faith secure, Till death dissolves our chain. Let us pray. Then, all devoutly kneeling--LORD, save Thy servants that put their trust in Thee; Send unto them help from above, and evermore mightily defend them. Help us, O God, our Saviour; And for the glory of Thy name, deliver us; fie merciful to us sinners, for Thy name's sake. Lift up your hearts; We lift them up unto the Lord. Let us give thanks unto our Lord God; O give thanks unto the Lord, for He is gracious, and His mercy endureth for ever. Lord, suffer us not this day to draw nigh unto Thee with our lips only, whilst our hearts are far from Thee. But make us, we entreat Thee, so deeply to feel our weakness, our ignorance, our sinfulness, and all our need, that we may come with ...
