As the book unfolds, Agent Chu gets increasingly embroiled in events surrounding the election and the personal lives of Gale and his family, becoming strongly attached to Gale's children - particularly to the captivating and savvy Faith. As the election draws nearer, and it is evident Strong is destined to lose, Gale takes matters into his own hands driven by his fervent belief that it is God's will.
