Death of The Republic (Paperback)

'Death of The Republic' takes place ten years in the future in a world that finds America struggling to maintain its dignity. People have had it hard and have little else to turn to but belief in God and country. The perfect recipe for disaster. The political thriller tells the story of independent presidential candidate Robert Strong, the handsome and affable preacher, who pulls together enough of the Christian vote to make a credible run for office. Strong is backed by brother-in-law Sherman Gale, a former Marine Colonel turned billionaire. Gale is being investigated by Federal agencies. When FBI Agent Derrik Chu infiltrates the Christian community Gale has established on his huge ranch in Wyoming, he is quickly discovered by Gale himself. Gale finds the young agent intriguing and offers him a job. When Chu refuses the offer, Gale has him assigned to the duty anyway - providing personal security for candidate Strong and his wife, Doris. Chu comes to like the couple he is protecting and wins favour by heroically saving Doris from a suicide bomber. After the bombing, Chu is startled when CIA agent Audrey Kunitz confides to him that Gale has compromised both their agencies. But can she can be trusted? As the book unfolds, Agent Chu gets increasingly embroiled in events surrounding the election and the personal lives of Gale and his family, becoming strongly attached to Gale's children - particularly to the captivating and savvy Faith. As the election draws nearer, and it is evident Strong is destined to lose, Gale takes matters into his own hands driven by his fervent belief that it is God's will. Follow Chu and his friends' desperate attempt to stop Gale's plan, through a series of twists and turns that keeps the reader guessing until the end. Readers of Vince Flynn and Stephen Coonts would definitely be attracted to 'Death of the Republic', as might fans who enjoy the work of James Huston, Brad Thor and Richard North Patterson.
