But fometimes fuch an emphatical phrafe is not ouly beautiful but neceflary, as here. So again in p. 86. 1. 3t. After Door-Cafe, This Was not enough, He leaves out. So again p. 88. 1 jo. He made -fe of another Artifice. After tourage. Ib. p. 73. n. So. The laft part of the Note relating to Jnftituting the days which the Romans call'd Fafti and Nefafti, and which Macrobius diftinguifhes into three, viz. fefti, Projefli, Interciji. The fir/I, Mr. B. fays, were confecrated to the worjhip of the Gods; the fecond were fet apart for public k And private bnfinefsj the laft were divided between Both. Wou'd not one think by the word Both, and by piablick and private bufinefs being the antecedent, that the laft were divided between publick and private bufinefs. Whereas the Original is clear enough, and is as I tranflate it: the laft were divided between the Worjhip of the Gods, and hearing of Caufes, and following Douieftick bufinefs: that is, they were Half-holidays, for that's the meaning of the word interfifi.
