This publication is a faithful translation of the French language text of the sixth edition (1991) of the document Le Systeme International d'Unites (SI) published by the International Bureau of Weights and Measures. The principal changes between this and the previous edition concern the adoption of additional SI prefixes and the modified recommendations for practical realization of the electrical quantities, following the adoption of recommended values for the Josephson and von Klitzing constants.
