Sir: You will immediately repair to this place and be prepared to give me the best account that can be procured of the Troops ordered to be raised from the State Legion which I shall immediately arrange, and send on Duty. I request you will loose as little time as Possible. I am, Sir, your Humble Servant, THOS. BURKE. Major Lewis of the State Troops. Halifax, February 16th, 1782. Maj. Crofton, or the senior officer of the rendezvous of the State Troops in Warren County will immediately make me a return of the Strength, Condition and State of Equipment of the Troops who have appeared there, from what Counties and what are the deficiencies. Major Crofton himself will attend me with it at this place, or in his absence the Senior Officer. THOS. BURKE. GOV. THOS. BURKE TO GENERAL RUTHERFORD. Halifax, February 16th, 1782. Sir: You will please to inform Colo. Shelby, of Sullivan County, that the Council require further information before they can Authorize the Expedition he proposed against the Chickamaga Indians and have referred the matter to the General Assembly, but lest time and Opportunity should be lost. I recommend his still going on with his preparations agreeably to my former letter. You will be so good as to furnish me with the returns of your District before the meeting of the Assembly. I am Sir, Your very Humble Servt., THOS. BURKE....
