Nu Ecology in a Nu Age How to Defeat Global Warming The broad extent of our ecological problems--from Global Warming to global dimming, from species extinction to resource depletion, and from water pollution to air pollution--are all subjects of scientific books already written that have alerted us to the most important challenge of our lifetime: We must save our planet from these processes of nature that have already been set in place that threaten the existence of our global civilization. But at the beginning of 2013, we are completely unable to save our planet from ecological destruction, most notably from the rising of the oceans in response to Global Warming. We are in such disarray as a nation and as a planet that we seem unable to seriously do anything that might have a chance to solve this problem, yet it is the most overwhelming and vital project that we have ever had to face. So the purpose of this book is to spell out a method of confronting this slow tidal wave that is coming at us with incredible size and force in the foreseeable future based on the predictable melting of the ice caps that will raise our sea levels and slowly cause indescribable chaos all over the planet, unless we can stop it somehow. Our only choice seems to be either to give up without a fight, or to put everything we have into doing the basic research that will hopefully lead to a scientific breakthrough in time to give us the scientific knowledge we need to create mountains of ecological technology to defeat Global Warming before it defeats us. Some may, understandably, want to give up before we even get started because it seems so impossible to make these necessary changes in time to avoid these impending disasters; but PEACE PLEASE takes the position in this book that we should not give up without giving it our best fight, leaving open the possibility that we just might succeed, even though the odds are against us; and to the extent that we do survive, the civilization that awaits us on the other side of this crisis may be almost unrecognizable to us in comparison to the civilization that we know today. But we don't need to know all of these uncertainties in order to make the decision to get started now by contributing everything we have to offer to the solution of this crisis of all crises. Nothing like this has ever happened before in all of human history, so we can't look backwards for guidance. We can only look forward with our best vision, then gather up every bit of courage and determination we have so as to join hands with all others of similar vision in order to beat the clock that is ticking louder and louder in our collective ear saying: "YOU ARE RUNNING OUT OF TIME TO SAVE YOUR PLANET " Love, Mother Earth Therefore, the objective of this book is to present a workable plan to win this race with the rising ocean levels, which are projected to add anywhere from 3-20 feet of water to our beaches worldwide by sometime late in this century, which indicates the division there is among scientists as to its extent. So no one knows for sure how high the water will be, or how much time we have before that happens. But what we do know for sure is that when we have an exploding population, combined with a shrinking planet, and rising ocean levels, we then have a planet at war with itself; and if we are in a state of war all over the planet, fighting for food to eat and basic survival, we will be completely unable to muster a common front to defeat Global Warming because by then, it will be too late; so we must start now, with everything we've got, before we are standing in water up to our knees, in order to defeat Global Warming, because if we wait until then, we are a doomed civilization.
