State Route 238 is a short 1.0 mile (1.6 km) northwest-southeast road connecting U.S. Route 62/State Route 3 to State Route 38 in rural Fayette County, Ohio near Bloomingburg. It is essentially a cut-off between two major north-south roads approaching Washington Court House. The Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) is the organization of state government responsible for developing and maintaining all state and federal roadways in the state of Ohio with exception of the Ohio Turnpike. In addition to highways, the department also helps develop public transportation and public aviation programs. ODOT (pronounced "oh-dot") is headquartered in Columbus, Ohio and is part of the executive branch of the Ohio state government. The Director of Transportation is part of the Governor's Cabinet.
