Toxicological Effects of Neem on the Squash Bug (Paperback)

This book provides a review of some detailed toxicological studies of azadirachtin, a plant-derived toxin, on the squash bug, an insect of great horticultural importance. For centuries, Neem has been used to manage various pests and its potency is now believed to be largely a result of azadirachtin and other similar synergistic compounds. Various formulations containing azadirachtin were used on different life stages of the squash bug. Variables in the study include; feeding, mating behavior, ovoposition, molting, early-instar development and mortality in squash bugs. The compiled studies include both laboratory and field studies that make a comprehensive overview of some of the effects of the azadirachtin-containing compounds on the insect and more generally, on the yield and biomass of the host-plants.
