Sendai Subway (Paperback)

The Sendai Subway consists of a single line, the Nanboku Line, which opened in 1987. Construction of a second line, the T zai Line, began in 2004 with a planned opening date of 2015. The Sendai City Transportation Bureau operates the existing line and oversees the construction of the new line. Fares depend on distance travelled and currently range from 200 yen to 350 yen for adults. The subway was damaged in the 11 March 2011 T hoku earthquake and tsunami and shut down. It reopened on 29 April 2011.
