Since the independent publications in 1973 by groups in the U.K. and in the U.S.A. of the invention of NMR imaging, this technique has revolutionized clinical diagnostic imaging to the point where in many institutions it is the preferred method for the diagnosis of a range of pathologies in the head and the pelvis. During the intervening years from the initial conception of NMR imaging, other applications have evolved including spectroscopic imaging and the application of imaging techniques in non-medical areas. This book reports on a two-day discussion meeting held at the Royal Society in June 1990.
