The author was encouraged to set forth these treatises by two points which for many years he was persuaded in. The first, that God will most certainly at his time appointed restore the realm of England to the Catholic faith again, as may appear by the evidence hand he holdeth now in the work. The other, that England being once converted, may be made the spectacle of all the world, and an example of perfection to all other Catholic countries.
