The first in a series of three English language books written specifically to comply with the attainment targets of the National Curriculum key stage 3. The aim of is to develop the student's ability to speak and write with confidence in a variety of ways to a variety of audiences. The emphasis is on reading, writing, speaking and listening for appropriate audiences and it encourages a variety of wide reading and a variety of types of writing. Oral work is covered in the series in line with the Speaking and Listening profile component at levels three to six.
