The European Community - The Social Dimension - Labour Market Policies for 1992 (Paperback)

This monograph is the first in the "Issues in Human Resource Management" series emanating from research undertaken at the Human Resource Research Centre at Cranfield School of Management.;Although an increasing amount of literature is being written on the European Community's monetary and competition policies after 1992, virtually nothing has appeared on the very important area of social policy.;In this monograph the author focuses on the labour market employment fields in the following policy areas: free movement of workers; cooperation between national labour market institutions; the European Social Fund; employment and labour legislation; European collective bargaining.;In each of these policy areas a brief overview is given of the current form and extent of the Community's presence, as well as an analysis of the possible developments in the context of 1992. By focusing on concrete past and present developments, the author avoids the common danger of becoming too abstract when discussing this issue. He concludes by bringing together the arguments made in each section and presenting an assessment of what can be expected in the social policy field in the context of 1992.
